Preparing your content

Word Docs must be delivered as clean as possible.

  • Use only headings, bold, italics, lists, and tables.
  • Underlining is not allowed and will be removed if used.
  • All sources must be declared.
  • Large passages of content may be reduced to the first 20%, and students offered a link to read more.
  • Complex tables (lots of colours, formatting and merged cells) cannot render correctly on mobile devices. We recommend either saving the table out as an image file (as large as practically possible) or displaying the content in some other way, eg: lists.
  • All content must have two categories: the topic, eg: Conservatism, and the format. The choices for formats are:

Advanced Article, Answers, Article, Case study, Essay, Essay Plan, Extract, Handout, News Clips, Past Questions, Powerpoint, Sample, Summary, Test, Video, Weblinks, Whizz Through, Workbook, Worksheet

  • If you’re supplying content for someone else to add into the site, please add the Format type into the file heading, eg: 2c. Handout – Organic society or state
  • All images must be of a readable resolution. If the image isn’t easily viewable, please source another image, or remove it.

Working with the website

Website Posting content process:

  1. Create a new post
  2. Paste in the title
  3. Paste in your content
  4. The first heading of the content must be Heading 2
  5. All proceeding headings must be Heading 3 and lower (H4, H5, etc)
  6. Any tables rendered in Word, must be converted into percentages (for mobile viewing). Right click on the table and go to > Table Properties. Set the ‘Size: Preferred Width:’ to 100%. Click on the ‘Column’ tab and do the same for columns. Click ‘ok’ and check the table layout. If the table is looking ok (you may need to drag some columns into line), you can now copy the entire table into the website. If after clicking ‘ok’ the table is messy. Screenshot the table (zoom in to make it as large as possible on the screen as you can) and insert the table as an image into the website.
  7. Once in the website, highlight all the copy and increase it to at least 10pt font size.
  8. Once you’ve finished adding your content, click ‘Preview changes’ and check the page, or click the big blue ‘Publish’ button (or Update button if it’s already been published).
  9. Return and make edits if required.

Creating order

Re-Ordering content

  1. Reorder the content on the grid index page, eg: http://peped.org/politicalinvestigations/ideas/conservatism/
  2. Go to Posts > Re-Order.
  3. Choose your category from the list, eg: Conservatism.
  4. Click the ‘Manual Order’ tab.
  5. Then scroll down and drag and drop the titles to the correct order.
  6. Click the blue ‘update’ button once done.
  7. Check the grid index again: http://peped.org/politicalinvestigations/ideas/conservatism/
  8. If any categories appear at the top which are one of the provided ‘formats’, please go back into the Post and uncheck that category, and click ‘Update’ again. Check the grid index once more.
