Situationism is positivistic. Fletcher (1966) claims that ethics (love especially) must be believed not proved. There are no proofs or logical arguments that can deduce ethical methods. Norms are non-rational (or transrational, or superrational) and must be chosen not discovered (46 –50). In situationism, “a man decides on his values; he does not deduce them from nature” (Geisler 1989, 46). Humans must have faith that God is love, and base their actions on that faith. Philosophy is of no use in bringing a person from doubt to faith.
