The US Supreme Court Justices

Constitutionally, Congress has control over the size of the Court. The present court numbers 9 but this has not always been the case: 1789=6, 1801=5, 1802=6, 1807=7, 1837=8/9, 1863=10.
The Judiciary Act of 1866 reduced the size of the court from 10 to 7 (to be achieved by attrition); The Act of 1869 re-established the Court at 9.
