Peter Geach argues that GE Moore confuses predicative adjectives “a brown horse” with attributive adjectives eg “a good philosopher” – where the word good here makes no sense without the noun because it is attributing certain skills etc to someone who is “a philosopher”. With a good philosopher the adjective cannot be separated from the concept of a philosopher – it is what Peter Geach calls an attributive adjective. Here’s the full argument.
