Every year I have some fun making predictions for the exam paper. Here are my predictions for ethics questions for OCR in 2015. Please don’t over-rely on them – they are useful for practise purposes but you should accompany them with the usual strategic preparation. AS Ethics 2015 predictions OCR

a) Explain some of the different forms of utilitarianism.
b) Assess the view that Utilitarianism is the best approach to the right to a child.

a) Explain the approaches of the religion you have studied to pacifism.

b) ‘A true religious believer should not allow war’. Discuss.

a) Explain how the various formulations of the Categorical Imperative might be applied to an ethical issue.

  1. “If hard determinism is true there can be no moral responsibility”.
  2. Critically assess the view that human beings have a moral duty to protect the environment.
  3. “Moral language expresses feelings. It cannot describe facts”. Discuss
  4. Assess the view that sexual ethics is up to the individual.
  5. Critically assess agent-centred (another word for Virtue Ethics) as opposed to law-centred theories of ethics (another word for deontological ethics, best take Kant here) as a guide to practical decision-making.
