Challenge of Globalisation

Globalisation is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided by information technology.

Globalisation brings a number of challenges for both firms and countries. Supporters of globalisation argue that it can bring benefits to developing and developed countries. Critics point to the damage that globalisation can bring to the natural environment and the economic exploitation of developing countries. Your challenge is to weigh up competing arguments and make a judgement as to whether globalisation is a force for good or bad.

Task

Examine the points on the right hand side of the table and consider whether they are an advantage or disadvantage of globalisation

Economic integration  The national economies of a number of economies are being linked ever more closely.

Examples of this can be seen in the Eurozone. The debt burden of Greece has affected all other countries in the Eurozone.

The UK is heavily dependent upon trade with the Eurozone and with the US. If these economies slowdown, the UK will suffer.
